Meet Daniela
Hi, I’m Daniela Klotz, and I’m so happy you’re here.
I was born and raised in Germany, where food was never just about eating—it was about family, tradition, and bringing everyone together around the table. Some of my happiest childhood memories were made in the kitchen, learning recipes that had been lovingly passed down through generations. Those traditions continue to inspire me every time I cook.
Today I proudly call Missouri my home, where I live with my wonderful husband. Our children are grown, and nothing brings me more joy than spending time with them and my grandchildren whenever we can. Family has always been the center of my life, and sharing homemade meals is my favorite way to keep us all connected.
When I’m not in the kitchen, you’ll usually find me outside in my rose garden, caring for my pond, or spending time with our five very spoiled dogs. Gardening is one of my greatest passions; I love watching the roses bloom and creating a peaceful space that brings me so much happiness.
I also love welcoming family and friends into our home and spoiling them with home-cooked meals. There is something truly special about seeing people gather around the table, laugh together, and create memories over good food.
That’s exactly why I created Cook Like a German Mom. My goal is to preserve authentic German family recipes while helping others create lasting memories in their own homes. Every cookbook is written with love and designed to make traditional German cooking approachable and enjoyable for families everywhere.
My cookbooks are available in English, with bilingual English/German editions available as well, to help celebrate the language and culture that mean so much to me.
Although Germany will always be where my story began, the United States is the country I proudly call home today. These books are my way of bringing the best of both worlds together—sharing the flavors of my heritage while embracing the life I’ve built here in America.
Thank you for visiting my little corner of the internet. I hope you’ll find recipes that become family favorites and a little inspiration to gather the people you love around your table.
From Germany to America, with love.
Willkommen in meiner Küche — Welcome to my kitchen!
With love,
Daniela Klotz
